I dream in Miduryan

Image
I had a dream of my co-worker. We were being chased by Nazi's. It was random and weird. It also got my art mind thinking... I would love to do a nice portrait of him. Great for portfolio work and plus... he has a great face! So, I asked him and he said yes! Hooray! I think I'll do a photoshop portrait, cause it's been a while. I want to get illustrator... it's been forever since I've done a portrait with that digital tool. This is a sketch of Khach Miduryan from my memory. I will soon find out how close I am when I do the real portrait. P.S. I love eBay. And hot chocolate. WITH MARSHMALLOWS!

Another Tyrone Wells

More Tyrone Wells. Wonderful.

Tyrone Wells is my hero...

Image
I have seen Tyrone Wells 3 times this year. Much more than many other artist which I am so fond of. I sadly like his live stuff more than his albums. The recordings don't do him justice, they are over-produced and they don't have his 'soul' in the music (his live stuff does). I blame my emo room mate. I would have NEVER gone to his show in my life until I had to fill in for a recent vacant ticket which my room mate got stuck with. I was dragging my feet all the way to the first concert. Now I'm running to the concert tix! I am going to the fourth show in Febuary 2011. I would really like to do some t-shirt designs or do one of his album covers! Really! Really! 'Sink or Swim' always makes me cry (inwardly). I'm doing designs now.

The Red Obscurity and Despair

I haven't been feeling myself latyely. My art explains it. Sadly. New obsessions though... Giant Pacific Octopi!! Gouache on 18x11 Strathmore Watercolor paper. Despair: Gouache on 18x16 Strathmore Watercolor paper. The Red Obscurity:

Filth

Image
It's October! And since it's October, the spooky feeling in the air makes me crave more Filth; Dani Filth that is. I have this need to listen to a lot of Cradle of Filth around this time, along with Danzig and my new favourite Dimmu Borgir. It's something in the air, cause I did this last year as well. I have been always wanting to a portrait of Dani Filth since 2000 and now 10 years later I finally sat down and took the time to do a decent sketch. I'll probably end up doing a painting (digital or traditional) soon, for the new album is coming up. I know I'll be so enamored for the album that I'll go to my studio and spend endless hours mulling over my work and maybe enjoying mulled wine (the holidays are here). All Hallows is just 9 days away! Excited! I thought I would add a process shot to this to show the during and finished. I need to go to the UK or Norway and find me a metal man, who studies the worlds teachings (old and new). And I'll add blu

The Siren's Call

Another tattoo commission! Same client as the previous one and I'm very glad she squeeled over it. This drawing is totally bending my comfort zone. Usually I have things that make sense in my head... things that I could possibly see working together in unity. This drawing is very much influenced by Joel MacDonald. His stuff incorporates a lot foreign elements and it's smoothly put together like it was meant to be all along. Idunno how he does it effortlessly, but it looks damn good!

Avatar: The Last Airbender Group Sketch

Image
Done in March 2010 and I still LOVE it!! And Boooo!! to James Cameron for naming his movie Avatar... Nickelodeon had it first! I hate having to write my fan art down as the The Last Airbender with Avatar in front of it... >_< My fav one is Saka... handsome! Mmm!

The many faces of Merlin

SDCC 2010

Image
SDCC was a rollercoaster of fun. I met and work along side great people. Made new friends and met up with old ones. Now I have to recover, do my laundry from the many outfits I brought and get back to drawing. Now I have a fresh flame under my butt, and ready to GO! SDCC 2011 Goal: To be signing and sketching at the booth instead of working it. Thank you to all who have given me great advice over the Con, expecially Jeremy Haun of Berzerker. One of the nicest guys you'll ever meet.

Joe Benitez

Image
I got a chance to play poker at Mike Choi's house. The guest that I knew were Rick Loverd, Peter Steigerwald, and Joe Benitez. I grew up on Peter and Joe's artwork, and getting the chance to play poker with these guys was a bit surreal. I think I found Joe the most fascinating person of the even (Rick Loverd was definitely high up there) and found myself picking out some photos of Joe to do this.... Special thanks to Mike Choi for inviting me (and being a rad host) and to Joe and Peter bantering. Last but not least: Mike Turner. 6.27.08 R.I.P.

L.A. and Aang

Image
So I'm in L.A. It's been interesting. Finally got the internet on a computer (instead of on my phone) for the first time in 6 MONTHS!! That should tell you how busy I have been. The thing about being busy is that it's hard to prioritize goals when everyone else is grabbing at you to do something. I came to LA to further my artistic career and only had a chance to shit out these three sketches. I'm a tad pissed at myself for not saying NO. I have been saying NO to myself more than others and I've reached a breaking point. I got to update all my social networking sites, finally! I now am a twatter (twitter)! Hurray peer pressure. I facebook and myspace as well. Tweet, twat, twit me: @RemyDrawStuff. Had a massive overhaul on my health over the last 6 months and officially hate my job. I want a career. That's final. I want a career at a studio who will pay me for my art, and has a great team that I work well with. That's my goal. Time to go get it.
